The Social Justice Scholars' Fund

Although 100% of our students graduate to four year colleges, many face the challenges of rising tuition costs in this troubled economy.  In fact, in this year's college freshman class (Capital Prep 2010) alone, there are students who cannot afford books, dorm housing, or the college of their choice.  Simply because federal loan rates were too high and grant monies were too scarce.

Therefore, in May, 2010, Capital Prep decided to extend our support beyond graduation to our alumni by providing need-based access to our Social Justice Scholars' Fund.  The requirements are simply that the recipient have completed a financial responsibility course during their tenure at Capital Prep, that they remain in good academic standing at their undergraduate institution, that they evidence such achievement by providing their transcripts at the end of each marking period, and that they repay the Fund when they are able to do so.

Indeed, like many events at Capital Prep, this Fund will maintain our trailblazing bonds as a community and instill a sense of social responsibility in our students.  To be sure, the Social Justice Scholars' Fund is not just a gift of money.  Rather, it is a low interest loan which the recipient must pay back so that future Capital Prep graduates may benefit from the Fund in the years to come.

100% of the proceeds will go to the Social Justice Scholars' Fund.
